On 31 December 2020, the Decree-Law 31 December 2020, n. 183, also known as the “decree of one thousand extensions”.
The art. 15 paragraph 6, of the aforementioned decree provides that “Until 31 December 2021 the application of art. 219, paragraph 5, of legislative decree 3 April 2006, n. 152, and subsequent amendments is suspended”.
This means that until 31 December 2021 the application of article 219 paragraph 5 is suspended, which states that “All packaging must be appropriately labeled according to the procedures established by the applicable UNI technical standards and in compliance with the decisions adopted by the Commission of the European Union, to facilitate the collection, reuse, recovery and recycling of packaging, as well as to provide consumers with correct information on the final destinations of packaging “.
However, producers still have “the obligation to indicate, for the purposes of identification and classification of the packaging, the nature of the packaging materials used, on the basis of Commission Decision 97/129 / CE”.
What the Legislative Decree of 3 September 2020 provides
The Legislative Decree of 3 September 2020 had introduced important innovations regarding environmental labeling. This legislation required that all packaging be appropriately labeled according to the procedures established by the applicable UNI technical standards.
The legislation was intended to facilitate the collection, reuse, recovery and recycling of packaging, as well as to provide consumers with correct information on their final destinations.
Taking note of the recent suspension of this legislation, but with the awareness that the future will be characterized by the use of environmental labeling, Vacoplast is organizing itself in advance to better manage these innovations.
We therefore consider it essential to compare with our customers during the order phase to verify the intended use of the packaging supplied.
In fact, the labeling could vary according to the destination of the packaging, whether it is the final consumer or whether it will have an industrial use.
